If you're hoping to become a professional actor, look no further than Perform Australia's qualifications in acting to get you started.

You can study acting in Brisbane or Canberra, and can prepare yourself for industry in as little as five months full-time study in the 10915NAT Certificate IV in Acting.

At Perform Australia you can study:

11017NAT Advanced Diploma of Performance

You must complete the Certificate IV before moving onto the Advanced Diploma, as it lays the foundation for higher learning.

In both courses you learn about acting for screen as well as stage.

Funding your study is an important consideration when you are thinking about becoming a student of acting. Here are some important things to consider:

Tuition fees. Have you saved enough? Or would you like to take out a student loan? You can contact our partner, Total Lifestyle Credit, to see whether you are eligible for a student loan for your acting course. Generally, you need to have had a job for six months to be eligible.
Government payments. If you are eligible for Austudy, Abstudy or Youth Allowance, you will be able to get this for the Certificate IV in Acting. Unfortunately these payments are not available for the Advanced Diploma course. However, depending on your income, you may be eligible for other government payments such as rent assistance. Contact Services Australia to find out more.
Scholarships. From time to time we have scholarships available for acting programs. Please check out our scholarship page for more.
Working. Many students have part-time jobs while studying. Before taking on a job, please consider what you are able to manage. If you are studying full-time, that is the equivalent to around three days per week - it may include some evening study too. You will need plenty of time outside of work and study to learn your lines, prepare for your acting classes, do research tasks, and complete assessments. Make sure you know what your timetable is before you commit to a job that conflicts with classes.
Family Support. Will your family help you with your tuition fees for acting school?

We aim to prepare you for industry as an actor by giving you a strong foundation as a performer. You will learn and develop:

- Acting technique

- On-camera confidence

- Theatrical performance skills

- Vocal technique

- Script analysis

- A cultural history of performance and theatre and film genres

- A knowledge of industry etiquette and how to conduct yourself as a professional performer

- An understanding of how to promote yourself as an actor, and how to prepare for auditions

- Important personal disciplines and how to prepare yourself for performance

- And much more!

Throughout your actor training, you will also refine important soft skills that you need in every work place, such as communication skills, creative thinking skills, empathy, collaborative skills, relational skills, and much more. Full-time or part-time study in Canberra or Brisbane. A foundational course in acting across technique for stage and screen, voice, movement, history, auditions and more.

18 months full-time study in Canberra following on from the Certificate IV program. Study in-depth technique, perform on stage and screen.
